About Me (and you)

Kowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.

Aristotele

In some way or another, we all just try to make sense out of the experience of Life. We try to understand why we and the people around us act or feel the way they do.

At some point in life, everyone has come to ask themselves some existential questions about a deeper meaning, sense or purpose. “What is my destiny in life?” or “What is the reason behind all of this?” are common question that may resonate with you on a deep level.

Whilst I can’t give you an answer to any of those question (no one outside of you, in fact, can), there are many tools and knowledges that may help you on your way. For an inconceivable long amount of time people before us have set themselves out to finding answers to those key questions we still keep asking ourselves.

Even though none of what you’ll ever read or learn will enlighten you spontaneously or make you happy for the rest of eternity, some of it may help you tremendously on your quest to finding answers.

Why would you set out to find your own answers or belief systems, completely neglecting the work and wisdom of millions who walked this path before you? If you wanted to solve a problem of Quantum physics, wouldn’t you learn all the theories and findings about that field beforehand?

Psychology, Philosophy, Religion and Spirituality are disciplines that try to answer questions concerning the consciousness of the human mind. Each of those disciplines has their own set of rules, paradigms and methods in trying to achieve that. Superficially often seeming completely different or even contradicting, when peeling of their skins of paradigms, their innate essence is astonishingly similar.

Try reading everything on here (or anywhere else for that manner) with an open mind. Be aware that your old belief systems and ways to conceive the world influence everything you ever read, leading to either completely neglecting some information or shaping them perfectly for your current beliefs which will prevent you from ever knowing anything new.

If anything resonates with you, take it as a tool (not a be-all or new fixed mantra that fools you in a false sense of security). Work with it, be curious but mostly: Try to experience it outside of the written word. To quote one of my favorite philosophers:

“If you get the message, hang up the phone.”

A few words about me

I always loved reading, learning and writing. Throughout the past few months, I started a little book for myself where I had written down about things I learned. Then I decided to make all of that into a blog, to challenge myself but also to have a creative outlet with it.

That being said, everything I write on here I write with all my heart and to the best of my knowledge. I write about the things I have some real personal and practical experience with, as well as the things I read and learned more in-depth about (i.e., through my studies of psychology, my work as a psychiatric nurse or my yoga teacher training).

I put many hours of work into a single blogpost. I always make sure to having read primary sources (i.e., books from the author/source of the subject or scientific studies) and talk about those subjects with people that have knowledge about it (i.e. the doctors at my work, philosophy students or my yoga teacher).

That all being said, I hope you find some of what you read on here useful for yourself. Primarily, I hope some of it sparks a little light inside of yourself and gives you some inspiration, hope and peace. Take care!
